Whenever I read these words I feel such an astonishing sense of relief. I am saved by God and called by Him. It isn’t because of anything I have done. I don’t have to strive to earn it. I fall into that trap of striving so easily. I work hard to figure out who I am, what my strengths are and what I ‘should’ be doing with my life. Those can all be helpful but not when I’m trying to do it on my own.
The foundation is the grace given to me by Jesus Christ. My purpose in life has its beginning in God’s purpose. He loves people and desires an intimate relationship with them. I get to be part of loving people, in small everyday ways that make a lifetime difference. His grace gives me the strength to do it.
Question:
What is your gut response to this verse? How can you live out your purpose today?
Prayer:
Lord, may we not be so consumed with our own plans and busyness that we miss your invitation to purpose. We thank you for your grace and ask for more. Amen
