Detour by Design
Halfway through my three-hour journey to my daughter’s, Google Maps told me to go a different way to my usual route. With thirty seconds to decide, I flicked the indicator and headed off the ramp, not knowing where I was going. From there, I obediently listened to everything I was ‘told’ to do, trusting I was going to get to my destination. I ended up avoiding traffic congestion and enjoying a pleasant country drive. Winning!
Sometimes we think we know what God’s plan for us is, only to find he changes it up a bit and sends us on what WE think is the wrong way. I am still learning this lesson, but the more I trust him, the more I see his purpose is always the best.
PS. On the way home, I thought I would return the same way; without guidance. Totally lost.
Question:
What do you do when God’s plans take you on a detour?
Prayer:
Lord, you have a purpose for me. Help me to hear your still small voice, so I will stay on the road you have planned for me. Help me to trust you when life seems to take a detour. Amen.
