Reflection: The Bible contains such promises to God’s people, yet we tend to doubt them most of the time. We tend to believe more in the people and earthly voices around us rather than God’s word. The Bible was made available to us so that we could read and learn of God’s purposes in our lives, by reflecting on the way the Lord interacted with our ancestors of faith. We are God’s children, created in his image. As parents, we tend to want to see our children prosper, be hopeful, and have a future.
Doubting God’s promises pains his heart, similar to how parents feel if their children doubt that they have their best interest at heart. Instead, children sometimes listen, believe, and behave based on what their peers say and do. As painful as it is, parental love is unconditional … and so is God’s love for humanity, as “while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Rom. 5:8).
Prayer: We are thankful Lord for your fatherly provision and care, despite our bad decisions and sinful nature. May your unconditional love teach us to love others regardless of their behaviours and actions.
