Parenting can be a hard gig. Tantrums, naps, snacks… and then there’s the kids.
This passage is one I need to remind myself of constantly in moments when tensions are rising and my patience feels lacking.
God wants us to be loving. He wants us to be effective too. When tensions and voices are raised, rational thinking goes out the window. It’s incredibly hard to ‘listen’ when feeling emotionally overwhelmed.
When your child gets it wrong, correct lovingly. When they take FOREVER to get out the door, show patience. The words we use have power. We are their model of love and safety.
And when we get it wrong, humbly and lovingly ask for forgiveness, and try again.
Question
Are there particular times where you struggle to show grace and love in parenting?
Prayer
God, help us to reflect your love in the way we parent our children. Help us to reach out for help if we need it. Amen.
