Loving When it’s Hard, With Our Children
I remember as a mum when I couldn’t think of anything positive to say at the end of the day! Some days all we seem to do is growl and grumble. How do we keep loving that child who just spat, ‘I hate you!’ at us?
Ephesians 4:2 challenges us to be patient, humble, and gentle, making allowances for faults. Because of what? Our love. We continue to love, even when we don’t feel loved ourselves.
Love might be something we feel from others, but it’s what we do to others that shows our love to them. Love is a verb much more than a feeling. Your children may be parents before they understand how much you love them, but don’t give up. Love them, as God loves you.
Question
What is the hardest thing for you about loving your children?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, you love your children (us!) no matter what we do. Help us to love like you.
