Endure - Part 2

Day 2 of 3

NIV

Psalms 138:8

8The Lord will vindicate me;

your love, Lord, endures forever—

do not abandon the works of your hands.

Motherhood comes with new experiences, much uncertainty, endless decisions, and many responsibilities. Sometimes a mum can feel alone and isolated.

When you’re faced with decisions or situations that are overwhelming, remember that you don’t need to do this on your own.

You are the work of God’s hands and he does not abandon you. He is with you always. His enduring love is your support.

David knew the pain of isolation. He also knew the certainty of God’s love.

Psalm 138:8 has three parts:
At the start, David makes a confident assertion about God. At the end, he makes a confident request of God.
But focus on the bit in the middle where David describes the God’s love: it endures forever.

David’s confidence was firmly placed in God’s enduring love. This is our confidence also.

Question
Is there an uncertainty you are facing this week that you can bring to God?

Prayer
Thank you, God, for your love and faithfulness. Please help me to bring my uncertainties to you and rest confidently in your enduring love.

Psalms 138:1-8

Psalm 138

Of David.

1I will praise you, Lord, with all my heart;

before the “gods” I will sing your praise.

2I will bow down toward your holy temple

and will praise your name

for your unfailing love and your faithfulness,

for you have so exalted your solemn decree

that it surpasses your fame.

3When I called, you answered me;

you greatly emboldened me.

4May all the kings of the earth praise you, Lord,

when they hear what you have decreed.

5May they sing of the ways of the Lord,

for the glory of the Lord is great.

6Though the Lord is exalted, he looks kindly on the lowly;

though lofty, he sees them from afar.

7Though I walk in the midst of trouble,

you preserve my life.

You stretch out your hand against the anger of my foes;

with your right hand you save me.

8The Lord will vindicate me;

your love, Lord, endures forever—

do not abandon the works of your hands.
