Reflection: In heaven there will be a glorious mix of culture and language. Try and picture it in your mind. What will it be like? Imagine the faces, the music, the joy. Why not avail yourself of some of this now by getting to know someone from a different language group and cultural background this year. Taste their food, learn some of their language, figure out what could be learned from them. Take time to read of how Aboriginal people looked after the land, and made use of different fauna and flora. Sometimes we fear what’s ‘different’ or ‘foreign’, yet, through acquaintance and discovery, we become enlightened and enriched and forge wonderful friendships. The Bible says that God made all nations from one person, so that we will look for him and reach out and find him. Maybe you can do this with a new Australian. Don’t miss a foretaste of heaven in 2020.
Prayer: Walk with me, Lord, as I reach out to make new friends who speak a different language and have different customs to mine.
