Reflection: God’s Delight
“Brood over me, Father, Son, and Spirit. Forgive, refresh and delight in me.” Author’s paraphrase of Psalm 139:23
The more face-to-face the psalmist comes with God—rehearsing his character, his purposes, ways and means—the more nested he is in him. Perhaps the more rested, peaceful and confident is his song.
Laid bare.
Unmasked.
Open book.
Brought to light.
Exposed; disclosed.
No ifs ands or buts.
No holds barred.*
Carte blanche. Search me!
Prayer:
Sitting, standing or lying down, pray or express this psalm for yourself in a way that is meaningful:
You have searched me, Lord, and you know me.
Search me, God.
Brood over me, Father, Son, and Spirit.
Forgive, refresh and delight in me.
And repeat it; and again; and again.
