Reflections: It’s been said that change is the only constant in life. But I can’t wait until life is perfect enough to never need change again. That is exactly the future that God promises: a future where death, grief, crying and pain are no more. A world free of sin, Satan and temptation. A world where every promise God made to Adam, Abraham, Moses and David is not just fulfilled in Jesus but enjoyed in him as well. This will be a world so perfect that nothing new will ever be needed again. At the centre of this new world will be the perfect Lamb on the throne—the Lamb who was for sinners slain. At the heart of this new universe will be the Lord Jesus Christ and he will reign forever and ever world without end.
Question: How much do you long for the new world that God is bringing about through Jesus? How might a vision of the future help you persevere in the present?
Prayer: You are the Alpha and Omega, the First and the Last, the one who is, who was, and who is to come. How we long for the day on which you will make all things new. Give us such a vision of the future that we might persevere through every trial. You promise that you are coming soon. So come, Lord Jesus!
