Reflection: Imperfect church
For further reading see Ephesians 2:21-22
We are under construction. Unfinished. While the plans were completed before the world began, cranes are still lifting steel and concrete into place. The structure is still being fitted together. The architect is keeping a watchful eye.
But living in an unfinished building brings stress and discomfort – and from time to time we will experience that within our church. Sometimes very serious sin occurs. Other times we experience the wear and tear of stones that don’t yet fit together.
For, like Abraham, it’s not just a building we look forward to but “to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God.” (Hebrews 11:1)
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for your church.
I pray you would continue to shape me to fit together with my brothers and sisters in the spiritual house you are building. Help me forgive those who hurt me and confess to those who I have hurt.
