Overcome

Day 13 of 14

CSB

Psalms 13:5-6

5But I have trusted in your faithful love;

my heart will rejoice in your deliverance.

6I will sing to the Lord

because he has treated me generously.

Reflections: Sometimes the most helpful thing to do when we feel overcome is to remind ourselves of the facts. And there are plenty of good ones about God that can prove to be constant and comforting during a deep crisis. God loves you – and there is nothing that can stop him loving you. God saved you – not because of anything you did or do, but because he loves you. He will continue to show you goodness and grace because you are his child, whom he loves.

Question:  What other facts about God help you when you are struggling?

Prayers:  Thank you, God, that you don’t change. Thank you that your love is constant. Amen.

Psalms 13:1-6

Psalm 13

A Plea for Deliverance

For the choir director. A psalm of David.

1How long, Lord? Will you forget me forever?

How long will you hide your face from me?

2How long will I store up anxious concerns within me,

agony in my mind every day?

How long will my enemy dominate me?

3Consider me and answer, Lord my God.

Restore brightness to my eyes;

otherwise, I will sleep in death.

4My enemy will say, “I have triumphed over him,”

and my foes will rejoice because I am shaken.

5But I have trusted in your faithful love;

my heart will rejoice in your deliverance.

6I will sing to the Lord

because he has treated me generously.
