14 day plan

Overcome

Day 1 of 14

NIVUK

Psalms 13:1-2

Psalm 13

For the director of music. A psalm of David.

1How long, Lord? Will you forget me for ever?

How long will you hide your face from me?

2How long must I wrestle with my thoughts

and day after day have sorrow in my heart?

How long will my enemy triumph over me?

Reflections: Have you ever felt like this? It’s not wrong to ask God questions like these – it’s not a lack of trust but rather the expression of a deep faith when someone can cry out to God asking him where he is. It takes courage to ask these questions, and the person asking expects an answer.

Questions:  Have you ever felt like God has forgotten or abandoned you? Did you cry out to God like the Psalmist?

Prayers:  How long will you hide your face from me O God? Answer my prayers, according to your great wisdom and grace. Amen

Psalms 13:1-6

Psalm 13

For the director of music. A psalm of David.

1How long, Lord? Will you forget me for ever?

How long will you hide your face from me?

2How long must I wrestle with my thoughts

and day after day have sorrow in my heart?

How long will my enemy triumph over me?

3Look on me and answer, Lord my God.

Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep in death,

4and my enemy will say, ‘I have overcome him,’

and my foes will rejoice when I fall.

5But I trust in your unfailing love;

my heart rejoices in your salvation.

6I will sing the Lord’s praise,

for he has been good to me.
