Reflection: Beyond the Brink: Choosing Life and Purpose Through Faith

In Deuteronomy 30:19-20 Moses presents a powerful choice between two paths: life and death, blessings, and curses. This passage is a stark reminder that our decisions have consequences. Choosing life, which is intricately linked to loving God, obeying His voice, and clinging to Him, leads to blessings and a long life in the promised land. The choice is ultimately ours, but God offers His unwavering guidance and love to help us choose wisely and navigate the path towards life.

Death has stared me down more times than I care to count. Battles raged, illness threatened, the ground beneath my feet crumbled. But Deuteronomy 30:19 echoes in my soul: “I have given you the choice between life and death… Oh, that you would choose life!” In those moments, faith became my lifeline. It wasn’t a blind hope or blind optimism, but a fierce clinging to the promise of God’s enduring presence. Choosing life wasn’t about mere survival, but about living with purpose, a purpose fueled by faith.

Now, I stand as a testament to God’s unwavering love. In those dark moments, faith became my life belt. That faith, the choice for life, became a wellspring of strength, guiding me through the darkest nights. Now, I share this message — choose life, choose faith. That is what my ancestors chose, and they thrived and triumphed.
